It is always the performance which counts: Nana Patekar.

Vishwanath Patekar alias Nana Patekar, an Indian film actor and writer, philanthropist and filmmaker who turned 69 on 1st January, 2021. Belonging to a middle class family, he struggled a lot and challenged himself before finally working in Hindi and Marathi Cinema. When he was 28-years-old, he lost his father, and within two-and-a-half years of that, he lost his first son.

 

Life was never so easy as before coming into the acting profession, Nana did odd jobs like painting Zebra crossings, painting movie posters, etc., to earn a living. He gives credit to the Bollywood actress Smita Patil for his entry in Bollywood as she knew him from Pune and took him to Ravi Chopra for a role.

He started his acting career performing on Marathi stage at the age of 5. But in his initial days in Bollywood, he had to face discrimination for not being a 'handsome hunk'. He said “I know I am not beautiful and handsome but I wanted to make my performances beautiful. Always let your work talk for yourself”. His first film was ‘Gaman’ (1978) after which he did several small roles in Marathi cinema. He acted in various award-winning plays including Hamidabaichi Kothi and Purush. Nana also worked as a commercial artist and visualiser at Strusa Advertising.

In 2013, Nana was awarded the Padma Shri award for his dedication in the field of Films and Arts. Nana along with Irrfan Khan, is the only actor ever to win Filmfare Awards in the Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Villain categories. he won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film Agni Sakshi. He won another National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor, and the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Parinda (1989). He then won the Filmfare Best Villain Award for his role in Angaar (1992). In 1995, he won the National Film Award for Best Actor as well as the Filmfare and the Screen awards for Best Actor for his role in Krantiveer (1994). He also won his second Filmfare Best Villain Award for his role in Apaharan (2005). In 2017 he won the Filmfare Marathi award for best actor for his performance in Natsamrat. To perfect his role for Prahaar, he had undergone strict army training for 3 years, and in the early 90's, he was given the Honorary rank of Captain.

Never the less, Nana did playback singing in the films “Yeshwant” (1997), “Wajood” (1998) and “Aanch” (2003). In 2016 and made his debut as a producer with the film “Natsamrat.” Around 40 years after making his acting debut, in 2017, he did his first commercial for ‘Vikram Tea.’

Nana believes in simple living or lifestyle and is a philanthropist.Nana has also lent his service to the Indian Army, including a stint during the Kargil War. In 2015, Nana Patekar, along with actor Makarand Anaspure, started a non-governmental organization- Naam Foundation. The foundation works for the welfare of farmers in the drought-prone areas Vidarbha and Marathwada in Maharashtra. In 2015, he also distributed cheques of ₹15,000 to the families of farmers from Vidarbha region and from Latur and Osmanabad districts of Marathwada

He also carry passion for cooking. He can cook for more than 150 people at a time. He also has a signature dish to his name- ‘Nana Prawns.’ He gives credit to his mother for his cooking skills.

Nana Patekar always comes out as a versatile performer in whichever role he ever put his hand. His hard work and learnings from struggle made him a renowned actor. With due respect we pray that god bless him a healthy and a life full of positivity ahead. Wishing him a happiest birthday from his fans side.

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, JECRC University, Jaipur, Rajasthan has organized Keynote session for students of the university. Guest speaker Rajesh Padmanabhan, motivated the students. 

He suggested students to be confident and work with the honesty. Students and faculties of all departments took part in the session. The session was held online on Zoom. Mrs. Nikita Batra, Assistant Professor, JMC moderated the session. 

Head of the Department Dr. Amit Sharma promised students to conduct such interactive sessions in future too.

Radio Workshop: Voice for the Voiceless

JMC organizes Radio Workshop of Mr. Mahendra Modi

Radio is the medium for all. It is very powerful tool of mass communication. For their students, the dept. of JMC organizes a workshop of Radio on the topic Radio: Voice for the Voiceless on June 24, 2020. Mr. Mahendra Modi, Retd. Head of Vividh Bharti, Former Asst. Dir. DG AIR was present as the prime speaker in the session. 

In the session, Mr Modi explained the modulation of the voice through demonstration. All the students of the dept. of JMC of JU participated in this event.

One day Workshop on Fact Checking

JMC organizes Google Fact Checking Workshop

The dept. of JMC, JU organizes the Google fact checking workshop for its students on June 16, 2020 via online mode. The Google certified trainer Ms.Archana Kumari and Mr. Deepak Khajuria explained the politics of fake news via their ppt. presentation. 

They explained the difference between misinformation and disinformation too. They provided basic training to participants on how to verify the content, photos and videos viral on the social media. Ms. Nikita Batra moderated the session and HoD Dr. Amit Sharma gave vote of thanks.

JMC organizes key note session of Mr. Rajneesh Singh

 Keynote session : Paradigm shift in corporate hiring in post Covid-19 era

The dept. of Journalism and Mass Communication of JECRC University organizes the key note session of the Mr. Rajneesh Singh on June 03, 2020. He addressed the student of JMC and all the dept. of JU on the topic Paradigm shift in corporate hiring in post Covid-19 era via online mode. Dr. Narendra Kaushik, Associate Professor of the dept. of JMC of JU moderated the session.

Mr, Rajneesh Singh, the key note speaker, was the group head HR of the Network 18. He has experience more than two decades. He interacted with the all students and faculty members of the JU. He talked about the job after the post covide-19. Approx. 500 persons along with the faculty and students of the JU actively participated in this event.

Mr. Arpit Agrawal, vice chair-person of the JU, gave vote of thanks and invited them also in the campus of the JU.

Students of the JMC department are utilizing Quarantine Time

The way we utilize our time defines who we are. 

The period of quarantine made people think more about their life's and future goals also this period gave us time to be with our loved ones, take care of them, help them, make good memories with them. Apart from this the people are getting bored in the time but the students of Journalism and Mass the communication department of JECRC University are making this time productive by engaging in activities which will enhance their skills, rather than sitting at home, sleeping and passing their time in watching movies and video games they chose to read books, read more newspaper, writing, learning a new instrument or adding a new hobby in their life's.

The teachers also are focused to make students understand the concepts through daily online classes where they clear student doubts and are taking the best steps that involve effective learning.

Bhavika Joshi, a student of 2nd year is improving her communication and building new contacts. She is taking live sessions with influencers like Ritvik Sahore, Abeer Vyas, this practice is not good for herself but also for the students who are watching and getting knowledge through the sessions.

Akash Tiwari is focusing more on his writing skills and writing more these days he is a poet and a budding artist. Kanishk is an aspiring actor and a singer, he is also focused on and improving his skills at home through online classes.

Students of 1st year are also involved in the quarantine period Aishwarya and Devesh both are learning a new skill which is learning to play Harmonium. Where Sanika is learning how to play a synthesizer.

Some students are learning and improving their technical skills like video editing and newspaper editing.

 Abhimanyu and Daisy who are already amazing writers and create good content on social media is improving their writing skills more to engage the public and create more relatable content for them.

Whereas Ankit, Poorvika, Vineet, Lavina, Sanjana are all engaged in reading new books of a different genre to open their mind for the world they are all lost in the mesmerizing world of books.

Because they think that books can talk to them and understand well than any other human being can.

Above this all the students are encouraged and dedicated and putting their leisure time in use by learning, improving and creating.

Stuti Bafna is taking interviews and building her Journalistic approach in every way she recently launched her magazine with her mates Shivam Pathak who is a good orator and reader and intellectual personnel. Pulkit Sharma always puts his Journalistic approach through tests by putting questions and finding answers to them.

Editor is the Captain of Newspaper

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication had an online video session with Mr. Manoj Thakur, Journalist of Amar Ujala, and daily Hindi newspaper on April 10, 2020.

The BA (JMC) students had an interactive meeting with him. Discussing the organisational structure of newsroom; he said, “Editor of a newspaper is the captain of the team. He decides the sequence of positioning of news and News editor is the key person of a newsroom.”

He also talked about the first line of newspaper that is related to the reporters and desk content creators.  He said that "Reporters are considered as the main element of newspaper of any news organization. Without them the formation of newspaper cannot be possible. The students learnt the basics of print journalism. The guest also cleared the doubts of students by answering to their questions.
